Default New England Braintrust request: 5 Day trip to Maine....

Hey, so I'm taking the lady in the S2k up to Maine over the holdiay weekend and making it a 5 day trip.

I am looking to plan a route and places of interest to hit up and figured those who've been could provide some recommendations and insight on what's a hit and what's a skip.

my tentative list thus far:

1) Arcadia National Park
2) Sea-Kayaking out of Bar Harbor or boothbay
3) overnight stay in Portland
4) scenic drive along the coast checking out towns etc...
5) a couple day hikes

all in all just a good time to get away so if there are any must see restaurants/b&b's etc.. let me know!

Thanks,

David.

Default You should throw in a stop in Freeport on the way back for some shopping at LL Bean...

...of course, her ability to spend a lot will be restricted by the space in the S2K ))

I love Bar Harbor (a/k/a "Bah Habbah"), make sure you partake in the locally made blueberry ice cream!!!

Default What are your thoughts on people/crowds?

Avoid, don't mind, would like to see some?

LL Bean... they're open 24hours a day in case you're trying to schedule things.

Default I'm game with either, no bother, but would love a balance of both

the time in Arcadia is truly what I'm looking forward to.....

I'd love to find a quiet fishing village to break out the DSLR and take some shots, find a cool out of the way place to have a killer Lobstah ;P dinner type thing. but know with the weekend of the 4th, people and crowds are part of the deal.

Definitely going to hit up LL bean!

forgot about that...

Default LMFAO (agree) the s2k = you can't take much with you!

= me happy... lol...

nice, I'm definitely going to hit that up.

the alternative would be taking the Allroad... and that would be just DOWNRIGHT dangerous with the GF in terms of "space"

THanks for the recommendations..

Default You can also take a quick stop into Boothbay Harbor on your way back from Acadia.

Nice little side stop and a nice drive off of the main highway.

Tiny little place. You won't spend more than a couple of hours there.

Default If you get the opportunity, definitely hike Tumbledown Mtn - 2 hours North of Portland.

Awesome views, and a cool alpine pond at the top. Worth the trip.
