The Castine Inn is a nice inn that's a 2 minute walk from the water. Meals are good, too. There isn't a whole lot going on in Castine over the summer though.
Camden is a touristy fishing town along Rt1, but still a neat stop. You could probably catch a boat ride here if you wanted. The Lord Camden Inn is right in the thick of things.
Like ArchitecTT said, you will likely run into some room restrictions that week, in terms of both availability and minimum stays.

The next peninsula down from Acadia, check out Castine Kayak. My wife and I kayaked with them - nice location. Castine's a cute little town, too. Home to the Maine Maritime Academy..<ul><li><a href="http://www.castinekayak.com/">Castine Kayak</a></li></ul>
