Back in the day, toluene was the wonder fuel producing massive amounts of horsepower from small displacement engines. Problem today is we have O2 sensors, catalytic converters and various other devices that are susceptible to damage from the toluene. Remember, it was only in the last couple of years that F1 engines had durability requirements. Prior to that after every race the engines and turbos were either completely rebuilt or replaced and that after less than 200 miles of driving.

That seriously makes a huge difference in my Twin-Turbo R32... which on our premium gasoline pulls up to like 15% timing... on STP (the orange bottle it's like $2 a fill-up) it will only pull about 5%... seems like the best value since the NOS stuff is literally $10 extra.
