I just had a windshield replaced, and I stuck the business card in the spot where the sticker would have been- and I still got a ticket, even though I had just got a new windshield. Sad life for the meter maids
I also got one on a car that I had already re-registered for my move out of state, I just couldn't drive the car on paper tags while my plates were in the mail. So I appealed it, and they dismissed it saying, " you won't be excused from additional tickets after the 1st infraction " lol
Not surchargeable by the way, so pay up hehe

It is a non-moving violation, but a valid ticket to be issued. I believe this is not specified in the state's motor vehicle statutes, but it is illegal to operate a car without a current inspection sticker (with the exception of a new-to-you car during which there is a grace period when transferring plates), and if it is parked on a street (or MBTA station), it was operated illegally to get there.
Since it is a non-moving violation, just pay it, and get your car inspected. My wife let her sticker expire...I was driving it to Bernardui Honda to get it inspected, and got pulled over. I mentioned to the officer that I was on my way to the dealership to have it inspected, and he let me go on my merry way. Nice.

Who did your new winshield? When I had mine replaced, the installer was able to move the inspection sticker with no issues. The stickers used to be non-movable (would read COID in white letters where adhesive did not come off), and glass installers had a special backing sticker to note that the windshield was replaced. However, I think the registry simply changed the sticker to allow the sticker to be moved if necessary.
I'd give that ticket to you glass installer to pay!

Hehe , I actually was waiting to do a new sticker upon the glass replacement. I just got burned because it was Jan 29th, and I wanted to get a Feb sticker on the 1st. Always stretch my reinspections for the extra free (13th)month

It is a moving violation. From the driver's manual:
"Driving any motor vehicle without a valid inspection sticker is a traffic violation and can result in a fine and affect your insurance rate."
It is true because it happened to me <big sad face>.

If cop pulls u over, its surchargeable. If meter maid nails your car, it is not tied to a driver or owner.
I assume if cop pulls car over, driver and or owner are likely to get surcharrge.

i know if a police officer issues the ticket it's a moving violation. not sure if the parking officers have the authority to issue a moving violation though. that was the origin of my question.
i'll find out on monday.
