Default I would try to mix in a 545i or 550i. They're probably going to be less expensive in terms of repair

Good luck, E39 M5s are sweet. Although, they're aging these days.

Default Not to argue,

But truthfully i think the 645 and 650 are more comparable to the S5 than a 335i. The 335 seems more sporty, but with a bland plastic interior. The S5 is more comfortable and feels like a sporty GT car, with the 650 as heavier and serves only as a GT cruiser.

Default yeah, and starters require motor removal on the rs6 :)

the searches I did were nationwide, which might explain the differences I saw. 535xi was much more into the $45k+ range.

Default I have always loved the E39 M5...

...the RWD would be the ONLY drawback.

Default Is the E39 M5 really *that* much bigger to justify giving up AWD? The RS6 and newer 5 are def both

significantly bigger. That said, for your requirements, I'd prob go 550i.

Default kinda sorta. being in it vs a b5 is a pretty big difference

IMHO. I'm sure the RS6 is bigger, and AWD, and Audi. Yeah... it's just that
a) I'm not a huge fan of the C5 appearance, although the RS6 looks much meaner
b) repair costs scare me

So I'll keep an eyeball open for RS6'es with warranty .

Default If you are going to get a 550i, it must be an '07+ with sport, 19"s, aero kit, and logic7. RS4?

the '06s are nice but the wheels suck. logic7 is a must on those cars.

for your price range, i'd seriously look at an RS4. it's a little bigger than your B5, will be relatively low-maintenance, can be had for mid-$40s, and offers all (or more) in performance.
