Default Remote Starters question?

Anyone hear have a remote starter put in and dont have to use another remote. Searched the forums and not too much luck. I was wondering if there was anyway that i could just use me key by pressing a combination of buttons to remote start the car. Oh and its for a 2000 S4. Thanks.

Default they make a remote start that is activated by pressing lock 3 times on your remote

its not worth it, and the range is only as long as your keyless entry system right now. I have been using the viper 5700sst for 3 months now and love it. I do not mind having the extra remote on my keychain if i am going to have a mile range and 2 way remote start/security.

Default Amatoo04.. did you have to mess with the keyless entry with this? Or did you replace that all

together so that the viper does the keyless entry too? I know you worked at circuit from one of your earlier posts so you prob got a discount from it.. as do i from best buy =), so if i could install a remote start without the hassle of messing around with the keyless entry.. that'd be awesome..
did you install it yourself?

Default I actually used the wires from the factory keyless and hooked them up to my alarm

My factory keyless still works if needed and the viper alarm works perfect. And once i uninstall the alarm, the keyless will always work like it did before.

To be honest i didnt use my discount on this because its not worth it. It was going to be around 400 installed, and even though i dont work in the car audio department, i figured it couldnt be that hard. I payed 215$ from ebay and bought the alarm brand new and installed it myself.

So if u buy one and have and questions i could help you out, even though it was about 3 months ago, i still remember where every wire is and remember almost all the colors too ha.

Keep in mind that the install took about 5-6 hours to do it right and make it look like and clean underneath the dash. So with the 10 degree weather outside it may just be best for the installers at your work to do it.

Default my info sez . . .

that you have an anti theft device built in your key (transponder) that must be bypassed during the remote start condition. the way to do this is to buy a new key, have it programmed (by dealer) and incorporate that in the remote starter. if your car came with the plastic valet key that will work. then install the remote starter. directed electronics makes one that will work from your keyless but it has the same range as your keyless entry about 30ft. if you are using it as a toy to impress your friends okay but for usefullness get a nother remote unless you are really comfortable with audi electrics not a diy project

Default Haha, i don't deal with the installers 1)

they dont give a $hit about the cars there and will rip apart all your panels, and 2) i'm about to get shot by one of them who legit carries a gun and has warrants out for him.. so i'm choosing not to be around there =)

care to possibly help out in the spring when its warmer? Lunch on me? =) (if i decide to do it, im not even sure at this point)

Default I believe the 2000 did have an immobilizer.

the easiest way to check of course is to look on the dash when the car is in the on position. You will see a little picture of a car with a key.

The website for remote start wiring here at work says a bypass is required meaning it has an immobilizer, but then again, its not always right.

Default Yea i would help. My installers here are awesome...

very helpful and given the right amount of time they do an unbelievable job on the cars they work on. Of course on the customer that wants their radio installed in less then 15 minutes doesnt get as good of a treatment as the customer who leaves the car for a few hours for the same job.

but regardless, they helped me whenever i had an issue with my install but now i am very knowledgeable at it. It is just a p.i.t.a and takes a long time to help haha

email me come spring time
