with the v1 off hold the volume button in and turn the v1 on and hold until the display shows the program version
hit the button again to enter X band edit mode
I believe you hit it again to turn it off (arrow will point down)
Might wanna check the v1 site for more details

website. They don't tell you how to program it to turn off X however, i found it on RD forums though, so all good! thanks

it just depends on the sensitivity that you want desire for your style of driving
