Default Loon FTW, finally back in NE and can ski my home mtn again!

Although i do hate the weekend crowds loon gets, and get the sunday river/ sugarloaf combo... I hate WV and Cranmore personally,

I mean waterville... honestly who cuts all the trees off the top of the Quad to maek it "look like its out west"
Best part is after doing so they remebered wind! thats why there are those hideous rubber straps to block the wind.

Cannon is cool, but lincoln is a better town.

And all these opinions are from an USSA skier, so i mearly ski all the race hills at all these mountains and base my conclusions off of that!

Default This is my first year in a while without the Colorado Pass (Breck, Vail, etc..)..

So far i like Cannon the best. basic mtn, almost no lift lines and very few frills.

Default There is a reason for the zero lift lines...

Stowe, Jay Peak, the Bush, Mad River(only if you can make it up on weekdays), the Loaf....Sunday river is great for families, but does not have the terrain of the Loaf, or the front four at stowe....Killington, too many NYers, as with Stratton.

Just my opinion, but after having some 50+ day years in Telluride/Crested Butte, many of the other mountains mentioned here are disappointing at best...even with a good dumping, which is not tha common...

Default i am only an hour from loon or cannon. So i will end up picking one or the other for convience.

We have a trip to Alaska and Utah planned for this winter, so i just need a quazi-local fix for days off and weekends. I think loon will be busier than cannon on the weekends though.

Default When were you in crested butte? my brother lived there for a couple years in 2002-2004

awesome place for sure. Unfortunately i don't get out west as often, but i'm headed to aspen highlands and snowmass in february.

All I'm saying about cannon is that if you're out there to ski and don't care about amenities it's inexpensive, fun trails and for NH it offers some steep terrain.

Although, by the end of the day almost every trail is either windblown or skied off. I suppose once you've skied out west there's nothing that compares.
