And Wagner seems to be the most expensive by far! I wanted to order a clutch switch which people tell me costs $7 and wagner wanted $44. What the hell gives?

When I asked about it I was told it was an "automatic" increase when they bought the dealership?
I use Carson at Riverside when not in a big rush, saves a lot of $$ and ships pretty quick.<ul><li><a href="http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=215021">Riverside Audi Parts online linky</a></li></ul>

charge what they want for parts/service, and some are more greedy than others.
That said, why don't you order online from somewhere like genuinevwaudiparts.com rather than get it at a dealer?

same quality of steak or lobster with comparable service/atmosphere/etc, but one charges a LOT more, would you go the cheaper one? All else equal (just like you're getting the exact same part regardless of which dealership you purchase from), of course you would.
