Default Instrument cluster problem 2008 Audi S5

My 2008 S5’s instrument cluster makes a ratcheting noise and then all gauges go to the off position for a couple seconds. They come back on and work for a minute or two and then fall again. This happens at start up and I’ll get 4 or 5 faults before the problem stops. After this issue stops, I can drive for hours without any problems. The dealer checked things over and determined i need a new instrument cluster. The repair is costly though at around two grand. I’ve contacted a few instrument cluster repair places and so far none have said they can rebuild my unit. My car only has 42K miles so I don’t want to put a used one in and lose my low miles. Looking for advise and hoping to avoid paying the dealing big money. Thanks
