Default MMI Screen Black

My 05 Audi A6 screen is completely black it doesn't even come on when I turn the vehicle on. When I press down on the upper right hand *** that says on and off the MMI startup screen comes on for about 3 seconds then goes completely black after that. No matter how many times I do this the same outcome every time. I tried checking all the fuses near the driver door and trunk compartment all seem to be in good condition. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution? If so please help. I'm a first time Audi owner and would like to have everything functioning to enjoy the full pleasures of this beautiful car.

Try the three button reset procedure to get your MMI to reset or reboot.

Thank you but I tried doing so and still have the exact same outcome. I was thinking maybe it could be the mmi control module that would need to be replaced because it might be fried? I'm not to sure though since those three buttons are still capable of resetting the system but it still doesn't make it past the startup screen

Mine is a 2011 RS5. The screen blanked on me, then came back after a few days. Went off again a week later, came back after a few days. Blanked again and stayed off about 3 weeks. I was planning to take it to a place that repaired these (in Bradford, UK but then, when switching off the ignition one day PING! It came up with a Service Due reminder (a service WAS due) and it's been fine for about a month now! BIZARRE! My advice would be - leave it alone and see if it comes back. I was quoted £1200 replacement from an Audi/BMW specialist - they wanted to just replace the whole thing. Be aware that they can be repaired if you go to a specialised place that repair dash instruments.

Hi Steve, I also have the same problem, the lcd display in the instrument cluster has gone black. Can you tell me where I can go to repair it, please. Not to a Audi dealer, definitely.
Many thanks.

There is very little traffic on this board. You may want to post your question on the applicable board for your car. Good luck.
