Default Please Remove Key - can’t start in ignition

Hi Everyone,

I’ve read a lot on similar issues but still having issues. So I lost my primary key and grabbed the spare. Wouldn’t remotely open the doors and when inside says key not identified so I was like ok, I’ll just stick it in the dash as that’s the failsafe but I get the message “please remove key”. I was told by the dealer the dash insert is the failsafe but it’s gives that error and unlocks the ignition to take the key out. Any ideas ? I’ve tried all these different re-synch methods but I’m wondering if it’s more than that if inserting in the dash doesn’t even work. Any help is much appreciated I already spent over $700 towing it back from the airport! Is a 2009 S5 too btw

And it just got worse. I read about the CCM possibly needing a reboot although all of that centered around the remote functions. Again i had no remote function and the FOB was being rejected when inserted into the dash. So, I opened the trunk and unplugged the CCM and waited a half hour. plugged it back in and put the key in the slot and no result except now.............the FOB wont release. Now it's stuck in there and there is no response from the car dash at all. This just seems to get worse. Any help?

Default Key Problems

Did you ever figure out what the problem was? My 2013 S4 just started doing this exact same thing.
