Default Advice Needed: Want to camp within 3 hours of Bay Area this weekend

Simple car camping, the more unique and remote the better. Anyone have any recomendations of places that wont be crowded?

Thanks!

Default sunset beach - watsonville, ca

you have to bring a tent and stuff, but the parking lot is about 20 steps from the campsite.

point reyes is somewhere that i've always wanted to camp at. hog island oysters and such. - but it is windy here.

there's more stuff in the east bay that i can't remember. lassen and mt. diablo iirc.

there's tons, watch bay area backroads or pick up a guide at border's.

Default For more remote try Trinity county. Its going to be about 4-5hrs tho.

I have been camping up in Trinity, It is very very remote, really neat mountains too. The "trinity alps". Google it sometime.

While most of trinity county is "middle of nowhere" there are some more populated campgrounds up there.

If you go to Mendocino county, watch out for pot farms if hiking.

Some other places to try are out in Eureka Plumas State park, or up near Lassen state park, or Mt. shasta area. Again watch out for pot farms if hiking.

All this talk about camping. Im going to need to get some stuff together and go again before it starts snowing in the hills.

meh. camping so close to the city will take away one key aspect of camping -- the stars

Default Want to get away from the crowds? Downtown Oakland on the weekend, hell even during the week..

Park your car and grab an empty storefront, there's tons of them, and set up camp. Won't see a soul.
