For all my pals going to Laguna Seca next weekend, sorry I won't be there with you this time...

but as good as you are at Laguna, you ain't got nothin' up here in the high country! From my first, but definitely not my last, Ice Driving event...

The event was held at Georgetown Lake about 45 minutes from Denver. The cones on their sides mark the holes left by the ice fishermen who were supposed to stay on the other side of the lake. Only one car managed to find one, and it was pulled out with no damage other than a bruised ego...
Speaking of bruised egos, try an obstacle avoidance exercise on ice. Makes the lane toss seem almost childish. Fortunately, this pic was taken at the beginning of my run...

The autocross course during the afternoon was the highlight of the day. At one point, I almost hit 25mph, until the spin anyway. Not as hairy as my spin at the top of the corkscrew at Laguna two years ago. Remember that, Steve?

All in all, it was a great day. My thanks to Dean and Kasim Esmail and all the instructors and sponsors for hosting a fun and educational event. It was good to see some of the folks I have gotten to know in CO and also to meet some new folks. Thanks also to Trevor at 303 Motorsports and Eric (R2.7TA6 on the RM Forum) for the pics. If you ever get a chance to participate in one of these events, you really don't want to pass it up!

We are definitely looking forward to seeing you guys in July! We have a contract on a house and should be moved in around May 1 (we are remodeling the kitchen before we move in), so you guys have a place to stay while in Denver.
