the 5.25 rate is coming from starone.org and that rate included me signing up for direct deposit .75 discount and automatic payment .25 discount
the loan can be up to 7 years fixed.
is this the best rate i can get right now for a new auto loan?
and please don't tell me usaa, and other miltary credit unions/loans don't count since i won't be able to apply for them. starone you either have to work for certain companies, or live/work in santa clara county.
thanks!

Her credit rating was 700+ at the time.
On the other hand, my ex-roommate got 8.00 on his auto loan, but he just got his first credit card a couple of months before he bought his car.

When we got married, we paid off her car loan. I bought mine in cash.
If you can, you should only get a loan on assets that appreciate, but 5.25 is a good rate. USAA can beat that by .25-.5 depending on your credit rating.

our TT came out an equivalent of a 1.95% for 7 years this way, although i ended up paying it off a year early. Although it would be gambling that rates will fall in 2 years

my payments under 7 years comes out to be about 500.
my payments if i went through the dealer was going to be around 700 (5.59 % for 60 months)
i am going to make extra payments of 200 every month. then my loan will finish in 4 years.

assuming a loan of $36K which amounts to about $700/mo for 5years @ 5.59%. Total payment is $41,257.
Using this figure in my homebrew (Mortgage) calculator, I come up with $518/mo for 7years at 5.25APR. Total payment is $43,527.
Added $200, it shortens term to 4.75 years, total payment is $40,937.
With $315 added instead, term is done in 4 years, and total payment amounts to $39,992. Not bad starting with a $36,000 loan. Or that's like an APR of 3.9% at 4 years, or 2.7% @ 7 years
cheers
