Well, it finally happened: I got hit last night coming home from work. I was stopped at a red light in the far right lane [6 lane road]. Light turns green, I proceed forward - not even on it at all. Next thing I know there is a huge white Detroit Iron car coming at me from the front-left. Apparently this girl tried to beat the light while making a left-hand turn across traffic coming from the opposite direction. I slammed on the brakes just in time such that she scraped along the front-end of my car, all along the passenger side of her car. Had I not seen her as soon as I did it could have been worse as she would have hit me square in the drivers side of the car. Both of us are OK, which is honestly the most important factor in this incident. I actually felt really bad for her even though she ran the red and the accident was her fault. She was visibly shaken and she mentioned that she had only had her license for 2 months now. Poor girl. I honestly could not believe the damage to her car compared to mine. I mean, my bumper is toast and I likely need a new hood since it is dented at the front where it curves down around the grill - a very hard place to try and get dents out. Other than that though my car is fine. It runs fine, the lights work, nothing is leaking, it sounds great. Her car on the other hand, and keep in mind it was an old American car - totally inoperable.
Now I get to deal with my insurance [Progressive] and try to get my car fixed professionally and in a timely manner. My claims representative is suggesting Cooks Collision Repair [Sacramnento] as they work on luxury cars and [of course] are one of their listed locations. I have *no* experience with any local repair facilities; does anyone know how reputable Cooks is? Can anyone suggest any other repair specialists that are in the Sacramento area?
Thanks in advance.
