Default Cool pics of the old girls!

I never get to see the old ones, just hear them in the background as we rush to fix what broke from the last session. You have no idea how many bumpers, splitters, and diffusers get changed every weekend. The pic with the pile of parts sitting outside the garage is the norm not the exception. There is a large disparity from Mike Zoi at the top and the guys that just play bumper cars with $300k racecars. To give some perspective, last year at VIR the FNA parts guy and I were riding the elevator together Sunday morning. He told me as of Saturday night they has sold over $400k worth of parts and they had a truck going around to all the local dealers and raiding the parts rooms for more bumpers. These guys spend ALMS money to go club racing. But, I will say they all have a great time and the smiles after the race are gratifying to see. Glad to see the spectators enjoy the show.

Default As cool as the new stuff is, my hat is off to the owners of old cars who take their babies

out on the track and give them a good run. It takes real guts to toss around something that requires pretty much all custom parts these days.

Default Those guys are impressive and fun to chat with... making their own brakes drums and pads...

I believe that the maroon Alfa sold for north of 10mil a few years back. He shows up at every Ferrari Challenge vintage race and throws it around in the drum class. It was georgeous at VIR in the green!

Default VIR + Ferrari 430 Challenge was crazy. The esses on the long course had a sea of 430s in the tires..

Fun course but it was crazy on that league... actually, most every race at VIR is meyham in damages. I didn't understand until I raced there... made Infineon feel easy. Luckily I only dented a rear bumper there when a nice and jovial billionaire tapped and spun me at the oak tree exit while in traffic... went from 6th to 17th as I made my way through damp grass back on track for the huge straight away. That was the sad part. Zoi is a great driver, but he generally doesn't walk away with it... their are some folks that make him work and others are improving quickly. Then again, lots more are not.

Default Seen it when it was Peter Giddings car. He had that thing sideways nonstop like a drift car

and was giving some 60's Ford product all kinds of grief at a CSRG event;-)

Grand Prix is on tonight. Watching?
