Default First post... in SF w/new A4 Avant. Best car wash options in SF and San Mateo?

This is my first post to the Norcal forum. Live in SF (work in San Mateo) and just got my A4 Avant. Love it.

I'll be a regular reader and maybe even can do posts of use rather just ask questions. I'm signed up for the Audi Corral at the ALMS race at Laguna so hopefully will meet many of you then.

My first question is... best car wash options in SF (also San Mateo)? My intention is hand wash myself but realistically, I probably won't keep that up, knowing me. So looking for good drop in, willing to spend up, low swirl recommendations. If they exist...

Also, any recommendations on good stores that carry detailing supplies (might as well make the effort to do a few hand washes).

If you really want to keep you car in good condition while have others washer your car, I suggest getting the whole thing clearfilmed. It maybe a bit over board but it will eliminate the chances of microscratches done but other people. Premiermobilegroup.com did the front half of my whole S4. Its expensive but my wash/dry/wax/polish time is cut in half and I dont have to worry about rock and bugs chipping my paint.

Car washing services always use the same equipment for every car. Crap a towel/sponge picks up from other cars will scratch yours.

Then again, I am pretty **** about my Black B7 S4

Default Be careful

Ducky's put a 15-inch scratch on my 2-day old black S4 (worker dropped rag on the ground and failed to brush off a pebble or two).

That night, I ordered all my self-cleaning products and have never been back. . . learned my lesson. Good luck.

Default Sounds like a horrible experience... nightmare actually. I always wash my Audi..

to ensure it gets the care it deserves.

I get help on the dog mobile (corolla) from Touchless.

Default I take all my cars to Auto Pride, it's all by hand and they have never dinged a rim or anything . .

They did break an odometer **** on my buddy's 996 . . . can't replace the ****, have to replace the entire cluster to the tune of $2500.

No problem, they took care of it without any drama.

The one in Redwood city also has an awesome gift shop with a great selection of cards, books and nick nacks, really convenient for me.

Plus the 100 octane at King's 76 station is just a block away =)

http://autopridecarwash.net/locations.html</a

Default I had a lowered Miata, and just got in the habit of washing it myself.

Granted it's a smaller car, but my A3 has never been through a car wash. My '01 Bimmer, the true test, has been through probably 10 or so car washes (yes I cringed every time).

I started out with Meguires years ago, and have been very happy with them.

Check with Phil at Detailers Domain for products. Get a few microfiber towels and a wash mit, keep them clean, and you'll GREATLY reduce the chances of spider webs in the paint.
