I went to school at at CalPoly.....and can attest to the chp activity in Kings City.
There is the coolest 5 mile strait...just past the city...that tempts you to bury your speedo!!!

I saw 3 cops waiting for victims in King City on the way home.
I know which long straights you are talking about. I have to admit I gave in to temptation & hit triple digits several times. Got it up to ~122mph on one surge before I ran out of room. Woo hoo!

i was in a group that actually *got* ticketed
not myself personally, but ILLusive and myself were driving back north and then a group of 3 cars (Black MB C230 coupe, amulet(?) A4 1.8T, and black S4) came surging up on the fast lane (we were probably cruising around 80-85 before then).
we joined in (no need to state how much well into the triple digits we accelerated up to) and then all of a sudden (no V1 warning), CHP in the southbound lane so I squeeze the brakes. El policía quickly spun around and came up on the group (i had moved to the right lane by then) and the CHP tagged the Benz. I guess the audis lucked out. we cruised at 60-65 almost the rest of the way until gilroy, having used our stay-out-of-jail card for the day.
saw another CHP maybe 10-15 minutes after that run-in and the V1 went off well before...but he had another car shadowing him about 2 miles back. sneaky (but we were only going 60 after being spooked just a few minutes earlier).

I went to cal poly too... one time I saw a plane in the air
as I was talking on my cell phone (thank god) and following a semi. People were flying by me as I was going 65. As we passed an exit 5 chp's got on and pulled over everyone in site just about.
The meetup was pretty crazy, I've never seen so much traffic out on tank farm road!
