Hwy 17 -- check conditions before you set out....
Several slides have occurred in both directions over the past week.
Plus, I saw evidence of subsidence of the Northbound lanes, North of Summit Rd, South of Idylwild. Large cracks opening up in both lanes. I called it in to the CHP so they could check it out before dark. I wouldn't be suprised if they close it for weeks or months.
