Previous owner of A6 ran Dino Oil :-(

Inside of the engine has brown caked crap. Want to at least get valve covers and oil sump thoroughly cleaned, maybe bead blasted or ultrasonic cleaned.

Turbo Oil lines also need to be cleaned, although it may be safe just to replace with ss lines.

Default run a can of Sea Foam in the crankcase for a day...

then drain the oil and see if that made a difference.

I usually run a can of SeaFoam in the oil prior to changing it, seems to keep all the tarnish off and the oil drains very easily.

YMMV.

Default Can't be worse than after last turbo swap

Clouds of white smoke for a day - people making ugly hand gestures. Think I used up all my carbon credits for a decade.

Default no smoke.

pour the can into the crankcase, same way you add oil.

What you are referring to is using a vacuum line to suck the Seafoam into the intake manifold, where it is burned with the fuel/air. It will smoke using this method, but not by adding it to the crankcase or adding a can when refueling (like Techron)

Default Re: no smoke.

I've used the manifold vacuum method on my ticking lifters on my Miata. Good lord, Mosquito abatement didn't need to come my neighborhood after that.

Seafoam is good stuff.
