quickest way from sunnyvale to monterey on early friday evening?

Default quickest way from sunnyvale to monterey on early friday evening?
i'm heading up to laguna seca for the acna event and i can either take 101 south to 156west or do my usual 85west->17south->1south

i've never tried that during rush hour and i have a bad feeling that 85 and 17 will be nightmarish. any suggestions?

85 is bad from hours of 4-7ish

Probably take forever, but hey, it would get you warmed up for the track!
