Default Timing Belt, Water Pump, and Thermostat Replacement

Hi,

I have been reading this forum for the past year and have found the information extremely helpful. I am an owner of a 1998 2.8 quattro A4 with 64k miles. I just recently took my car to the Audi dealer and was told that I need to replace the water pump, timing belt, and thermostat. I was quoted $1,829, which seems rather high in comparison to what other members of this forum have been given. I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for an independent shop specializing in the audi's that is located in the Bay Area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Yuri

I am located in Palo Alto, but would be willing to take my car anywhere within a reasonable (35 mile) distance.

Default Berkeley is probably too far but if you were so inclined I would HIGHLY

recommend AVS. Eddie Delgado (the owner) has been working on my cars for over 10 years... very good, honest and reliable person. Not to mention a great guy, with whom I have become friends with over the years. He also instructs at ACNA track events.

Tell him Ben Bauer referred you.

If that is too far, I have heard good things about Streetwerke in PA. But I have never taken my cars to them so I don't know from personal experience.

Good luck
