Default lol...opus one won't drop in price.

if you can wait buy it at auction, they don't go for much - you'll be surprised. ($40-60 a bottle for current vintage and some as late as 1981)

i saw one at pw market for $140, everywhere else i know of is $150-160 which is about going rate for the last release.

you drinking this or gifting it? there are better buys...but cheers!

Default which auctions? Taking some with me to bkk when I go to meet teh GF's 'rents.

Dad found out I collect and requested some. I agree. I've had much better for under $50. I plan on taking a few cheaper better tasting wines just to show pops labels aren't enough to impress me. He seems like a stereotypical status junkie and prolly wants to show off to his friends. I'll play along.

Default winebid.com etc...

they're all floating around $120-$2XX at the moment. the late bottles do come up, just not often. they don't go for much but i wouldn't hold my breath.

Default hah...so when do you plan to show your new girl off?

i cringe every time i see a bottle of op opened at say mayflower or some japanese restaurant and drank out of $3 stems. but...as long as they're enjoying themselves, who am i to say?

like i said below i wouldn't hold my breath, if you need a bottle and need it quick grab whatever you can find. if you want the later vintages i know coachhouse liquors in saratoga has them. i think 2003 is $150, add $10 for each earlier vintage. they go back to 91 i believe.

Default I don't purchase Opus.

It is good wine, but it's price does not accurately reflect its quality.

Why do you want the wine? If you want to drink it, at that price point, I can recommend some excellent wines that offer far more value than Opus.

Best,

Andrew

What would you recommend for a Barbera or Sangiovese?
