I currently live in SF and work in Santa Clara. I've been doing this commute, or a version of it, for over 6 years. The wife and I have a kid now and we want to make the jump from a condo to a house. It looks like the east bay is the only financially reasonable option. How bad will 11 miles on 580 E, 22 miles on 880 S and 5 miles on 237 be?

do you ever listen to the traffic report during your commute? every day it's 880 corridor blah blah blah. i avoid 880 like the plague

I have to go from Mountain View to Stanford and the traffic is already killing me.

It cost around $400 a month to park in the financial distict, so she needs to be able to take public transit in.

If you come in real early its fine...but otherwise...still a bad commute. BTW, on the way back I went up 101 to the Dunbarton Bridge and went over that way..it was way faster to me.
