Couldn't make it out this weekend but was out the weekend before and it seemed as if the bass hadn't really made their move into the sound yet. Results may be different in the Hudson. I would think that this coming weekend might be a good weekend to give it a try. I would stay around the western parts of long island as the fish are def. not too far east yet.
During the summer and fall I also hit up the offshore seen with usually a few shark and tuna trips each year. I spend most of my weekends in the summer in Montauk so I try and get in some quality time offshore. September is great time go get offshore for Tuna on a headboat (Captree & Freeport have a couple).

The stripers in the Raritan Bay are supposedly running pretty hard, so for sport its good, but idk if you really want to eat fish that get pulled out of the back bay there. Down in LBI/Island Beach State Park the channel that seperates the two always has good action, espically this time of year. And if all else fails the party boats are real close by.
