On a B5 to properly move the woodgrain or aluminum trim you must overhaul the door panels, and for the dash trim..you must overhaul the center console intrument cluster etc. I performed the job recently on my buddies car..he has an Imola red S4 and we painted the woodgrain body color. It looks sick, but the removal was a real pain in the ***. If your just doing a door howver it isnt to bad.
Good luck..let me know if you come across any issues.

I swapped all my woodgrain belt trim for aluminum trim. The doors take all of five minutes each once you have the panels off..and that takes about ten minutes.
The shift surround is a no-brainer.
The Ashtray is easy as well...actually much harder to find then it is to do.
The Hazard surround is tricky to do without breaking the tabs or the trim itself..but it isn't difficult.
The trim to the left of the steering column is a five minute ordeal once the knee bolster is down..that takes five minutes.
Most folks will tell you that the center counsole has to come out to do the piece on the dash that extends to the passenger side. Not true. It is VERY challenging to get out, especially if you have big hands as I do...but I am proof it can be done.
So what does the door seal have to do with the interior belt line trim???

plastic around the drivers door & around the seatbelt area. I just need to replace the door seal, and have these things in the way.
