yeah, definitely...in the past i've always been sort of a dick when i got pulled over, but after reading that post, i was courteous, called the guy 'sir' and he said at the end he'd be willing to bargain at the court date. hopefully it pays off...

yeah...i don't even mind paying the ticket, normally, but i got pegged doing 81 in a 50. now if 21-24 over is a 200 dollar fine...31 over is probably gonna run me somewhere around 400 bucks. kick in the nuts, it is.

i got pegged doing 81 in a 50. the guy said he'd be willing to bargain, but do you think there's anyway i'd be able to get out of the points AND get a more resonable fine, say 15-20 or 21-24 over? i'm thinking 31 over is gonna run me like 400 bucks...

That is unusual. This is tough. It appears you can bang it down to maybe 15 over or less. That is not bad. The cop might become aware of you asking for his training record, etc.
When you go to court definitely be chummy w/ the cop. He might even give you reckless driving. Which I believe is 2 points.

i've got an otherwise clean record and i was only driving like a ****head because i was late for breakfast with the folks in nyc. you're thinking i ought to just try to get rid of the points and take the hit on the fine then?

points will get you in the long run on the insurance for X amount of years until its cleared from your record (unless you have the option to get rid of points like in NY state through defensive driving)

i'm thinking i'll just take the hit on the fine and try to get rid of the points. i'm hoping the cop will think the 400 dollar fine is enough punishment...
