Does anyone have any thoughts on an entry level/mid-range DSLR? I'm basically looking for something that won't be way to complicated for me to use, but will still have enough features to keep me satisfied with the camera for many years. I looking to spend around $800 or so for the body and a lens (it seems like most cameras come with a 18-55mm, except I don't know what that is). I looked on B&H's website and found four in my price range and was hoping someone could give me some feed back or point me in another direction. Also, noob question, but will a DSLR counteract my shaky hand so the pictures don't end up blurry? TIA for any and all help.
BTW, the cameras I found were the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (w/ 18-55mm lens), Canon Eos 20D (w/18-55mm lens), Nikon D40 (w/ 18-55mm lens and 55-200mm lens), Nikon D60 (w/ 18-55mm and 55-200mm lens')

Nikon D40. We use these like workhorses, day in-day out over 500 shots aday and the are all wonderful shots.
With a Nikon lens too. Its a point and shoot if you want or many levels of manual semi automatic too. From simple E-mail quality resolution to full RAW files. You can't go wrong with it.

This wold be my advice-
Try and get a used or refurbished body from the manufacturer still under warranty, they are many out there for Canon, Nikon and even Oly. You save the money there and use that money toward a lens. The lens will definitely improve the quality of your photos and to some extent make it easier for you to take photos. As far as a shaky hand goes it depends on what type of conditions you are shooting in and what features the camera has, Oly has a IS (image stabilization) feature that greatly helps out, not sure if Nikon or Canon do?
One of the best places to find a good deal on used bodies (besides e-bay) are the camera enthusiast sites (kind of like AW for Audi fans). Most if not all have selling forums where you can pick up a great camera body at a great price and you can ask the person for pics of the camera and pics taken with the camera. You can also usually get detailed information like how many pics have been taken over the life of the camera, etc. These are also great places to find used lens as well.
I have personally gone both the new and used route on both bodies and lenses and have never been disappointed.

can't go wrong with a Nikon D60 or D40. Canon has a nice line up as well. Ask the photography forum as well.
I have a D80. LI S4 was selling some of his Nikon gear in mint condition. Ask him as well
