My fav's are Macari and Pugliesi...both for the presentation and the wine. Macari is a hot spot, on weekends, for the exotic car clubs.
I have been there when the East Coast Ferrari Clug and the Viper Club have shown up.
They have a nice outside seating area if the weather is nice. The Bergen Road is one of my favorite reds of all time.
I avoid Pindar for it's overly commercial feel. It's not uncommon for the Tasting bar to be four deep and aside from Pythagorus & Mythololgy I don't hold Pindar in high regard.
While you in the area..you can go apple picking at either of the Wood Cleft Farms..and the best pies on Long Island can be had a place minutes from Macari...I have the name at work...Briemier or Brindmeir or something like that. I drive out at holiday time just for their apple cherry crumb.
Each year in May I go out on the south fork doing East and South Hampton then Amagansett, Sag Harbor...ferry over and stay on Shelter Island and then hit the wineries on the way back, often spending a few hours in Orient etc.

suggestion being Biddell and Palmer due to their beautiful settings and large decks overlooking the vinyards. That's if the weather is nice.

I asked my buddy, a pretty well versed wine guy today if he had heard of Macari vineyards....
He was like
"yea, they have an excellent red wine, bourbon road, burgon road.... ahh something road, its very, very good, just pricey at about 50 a bottle..."
nice.
