Default Has anyone successful made a claim against the state of NJ for damages caused by a pothole? I ran

over a HUGE pothole on Rt 80 and bent at least two wheels (I have yet to check the other 2).

Anyone know how to do this or am I $crewed?

TIA

Default How bad are the rims? Had a cracked rim fixed last year

by Wheel Collision Center in Bath Pa. Not cheap, but better than replacement cost. They do exellent work.

Default Submitted a claim for both NY and NJ and both were denied. (more)...

I blew out a tire and bent a rim on both occasions. Both agencies admitted to having the potholes. But both said the condition was normal wear and tear on the roads (nothing out of the ordinary) and denied the claim.

Default why are NJ roads so bad?

I drove down to NC a while back, and the roads in DE, Maryland & VA seemed much much better. Also having lived / driven all over Europe, I can't remember one place where the highways were as bad (so the 'cold winter' argument doesn't work). I read somewhere that the road construction in the US is much less deep than elsewhere, so the roads crack / warp more.

How did you submit the claim for NJ? I can't find any info on the process.

Default Heavier trucks, more volume of traffic....etc.

The base concrete on the Autobahn in Germany is something like 14"-18" thick. In the U.S. it's like 8"-10" thick.

Tony Soprano is in charge of road repairs! A little "skimming" leaves us with lots of holes :-)

Default It happened on a local municipal road. I went to town hall and obtained all the documents

and filled it out. Took multiple pictures of where it occured and of the actual pothole and submitted them along with my receipts of the new tire and straightening of the bent rim. I also had a written statement from the tow truck operator (roadside assistance) documenting that the blown tire occured from that specific pothole and where I said it did. All for naught...
