Should I even bother trying to fight it? I'm prob gonna be dealing w/ SI courts, since the ticket was written out of the 122nd precinct on Hylan.
I was w/ my father this afternoon, and always know theres a cop waiting on the Bklyn side by the foot of the bridge, but got nabbed as it seemed he'd clocked me when I was still in the 55 zone. I had slowed down by the time I got to the bridge.
I want to know if its even worth me fighting, or just man up and deal w/ the consequences. I have a CLEANNN driving record, no points, and have been driving for 11yrs. I know in Jersey you can see a prosecutor before going into court, to plea bargain...but I've heard you can't really do that in NY.
Also for those of you who have GEICO, and have gotten a speeding ticket....what kind of increase should i be expecting? Thanks

oh btw this is a 6pt ticket, and NY apparently has this new thing called
"Drivers Responsibility Assessment" which basically surcharges me $100/yr for the nxt 3yrs b/c of this one incident. ****ing Bloomberg.

wow... i got the exact same ticket (67 in a 45) on the FDR a few years ago...
Heading south on the FDR below the Brooklyn Bridge.
That assessment is annoying. I had to pay it too.
I have Geico and haven't seen an increase in my rates afterward. I hope that's maybe a little comforting.

ouch...yea that assessment bs blows. BTW I bet you got nabbed right under the tunnel (by the 50s)?
Theres always a cop sitting in the center, on the southbound side of traffic. I always thought the FDR was safe since there wasn't really a shoulder to pull you over to....but I guess times have changed.

yea thats what I'm worried about. I was hoping my defense could be that he clocked me in the 55zone
and not the 45. My father didn't think we were travelling that fast at all either. I was the only car coming up in traffic, so I bet thats what really nailed me too.

If he was stationed in the same 45mph zone writing other tickets, and
can prove his location, that defense won't work.
If you can prove his location where he clocked you, and it was the 55mph zone, you've got a solid defense.

nah. I got cought far south of there. I sat in traffic for a while...
because of all of the people cutting in for the Brooklyn Bridge at the last minute blocking the left and center lanes.
I was headed to the Battery Tunnel and when I got past the bridge traffic I sped up. There was a police car right on the ramp under the bridge. Fark.
