Insurance/car rental/bodyshop dispute. Do I have any recourse?

Insurance/car rental/bodyshop dispute. Do I have any recourse?
Car was in for new hood and bumper respray. Took ever 30 days to get back to me ! I drove in front of the shop everyday and saw car sitting outside.
Called insurance telling them about the situation and they got on the case of the shop.
Come to find out that car rental place charged me 300 dollars since insurance only covers 900$ max for 30 days.
Thinking about disputing the charge with Amex and let Insurance and Bodyshop share the $300 dollars.
Car was in the shop from November 12 to Dec 7. The shop was certified as a preferred shop for the insurance co.
