Near Mirage on Merrick ave.

Ok.. so there was a slow leak in a tire on one of the cars.. no big deal at all.. it Satuday and its now flat. I take it to our local Firestone shop 5 minutes away) to drop it off for a patch and re balance.
The writter said "its a busy Saturday, can you drop it for a few?" I say sure. You will balance it right?..the manager says "that's part of the serive.. we always patch and balance."
So naturally when I pick up the tire, I pay and they bring out the tire, I see chalk marks all over it to show they lined up the tire in the same spot as when they took it off.. I also notice that the original weights (its an alloy wheel)are still there.. in the same spot with the same build up of dirt on their leading edges. And no new weights added.
I ask the "writter" did they balance it.. he says "sure it's balanced.. that's why the chalk marks are there." I say.. no way.. those are the original weights.....humor me.. please? Take the wheel back in and check it. He says again.. "its balanced.. the guy inside did it that's why the marks are there."
I said.. DO IT, its no big deal don't rebalance it.. just check the balance.
He reluctantly takes it and puts it on the machine. And I watch him talk to the wrench turner.. and see the wrench turner shake his head no and start taking off the weights. They balance the wheel. The guy comes in and says: "It was a quarter out."
No appology.. no its on us.. just.. here is the tire.
On a second note.. and this should have been the tell tale... this brand new Firestone Owned 16 bay shop not only didn't have RFB equipment.. but the staff.. from the Sr. Manager on down.. never heard of it.
Life if full of mediocrity

No excuse for not knowing at least what kind of equipment is out there considering that companies like Hunter Engineering (they make the RFB's) send reps out all over.

my post. I sure hope it didnt read like "paul u idiot u know better than to go to some crappy shop" or something like that.
I meant to say "good thing you know better about these things and you didnt get screwed over like most folks would have"
I just want to make sure you didnt think I was being rude or insulting. thx
