Default Sober, middle aged, gray hair, first ticket in 12 years, getting pie for the wife, he concluded that

I was not a danger to the public. In fact, the ticket is only 8 points. I am trying to see if I can get the Court to knock it down to doing 85 mph, which is a 6 point ticket. Regardless of whether I can knock the ticket down by 3 mph, I figure that I will take a defensive driving course, which knocks 4 points off my license. So the worst case is that I will have 4 points on my license. I am hoping with a little plea bargain, which I undrstand is tough in Suffolk, my license may only have two points.

Default If he already took 20mph off your ticket, take it and be happy...

...you got a gift, why fight it?

Default I understand you wanting to minimize the consequences...but come on...

He cut you a break. If he shows up in court and recalls the orig speed, no lawyer is going to talk this down. He'll only be peaved that you looked a gift horse in the mouth and had the gall to show up in court looking for a bigger break.

And if you EVER get pulled over by this guy or one of his buddies (he'll pass around the story as it beats talking about what time the freshest donuts are avail), your a$$ will get handed to you next time.

Consider this last point carefully before you make an enemy of this officer. Especially if he works in your backyard (and it sounds like that's the case).
