Default Mid town hotel BT. Suggestions requested.

I have an all-day meeting Thursday a block or two from Grand Central. I figure that the smartest thing to do is take the train down from New Haven on Wednesday night, stay over, then hoof it to the meeting on Thursday morning.

Does anyone have any recommendations for something reasonably priced (250-300) or have any ideas when/how is the best time to book? Does it make sense to wait until Wednesday afternoon and book through something like Expedia?

TIA

Default Hmmm...Thursday is usually gridlock days...

Why not just drive into NYC and park it there for the day and have your wife/gf come into the city for some dinner and then head back to CT after rush hour? Probably cheaper than the $250-$300 you expect to spend for a night in a hotel.

But if you insist on staying over, I'd try Priceline for a cheaper rate at a 4-5 star hotel. For a small fee, you can see the selections now before you book them.

Default Yes, but this is a non-critcal meeting and I'd really like to go.

If the hotel cost gets over $300, I'll have a tough time making a case to management.

Default Not a bad idea, but wife has her own issues to attend to.

I'm worried more about getting to the meeting on time than getting out afterwards.

Default You select the class of hotel and general location you're bidding on.

Use www.biddingfortravel.com to help figure out the going rates. 4 star is generally pretty good. My last stay for a 4 star bid was the Westin off Broadway.
