Sucks but the headcount at the new company was yanked due to a merger with another company so they didn't need anymore new hires...they'll just fill the position from the pool of employees they just acquired. Damn...and I had plans for the extra $$$ that would have been coming in...

yeah, not worried...at least my old job was cool about it and kept me on even after I gave notice

I'm consulting and they know that this gig is only temporary...at most another year with zero chance of becoming a F/T employee. They're in the middle of a migration so it's just best for them to keep me on instead of hiring another consultant which could take up to 3 weeks and training him/her to do what I was doing.

If another opportunity comes up with better pay and any chance of becoming an employee, you bet I'm going to jump on it.
