NYC to and from vermont ski areas, I-87 or I-95/I-91?

careful on the taconic, especially just before 84 (coming down the hill) and north of 84
the podunk towns love the revenue...
almost all of my speeding tickets I've received in my lifetime where there.
I motor, usually 80ish
got popped at 94 there

I take the Merrit to the end, then I-91 North, Taconic has way to many cops, and if the weather is crapy you're screwd. The NY road crews are terrible compared to the CT crews. Plus there is nothing on the Taconic North of rt 55.
I do the trip to Albany weekly, and have had a house at Mt.Snow/Stratton for 6 or 7 years now. So headed north from Queens (Whitestone) i can do it in my sleep.
- the cops on the Taconic like to sit on the right hand side, not just in the middle.
Drive Safely.

I got my first speeding ticket just after the Diner - court was in
Austerlitz. Last time the Polish were in that city things didnt work out too well. So I mailed it in and paid my fine. Havent been back since.

I usually take 87, it's a little longer but easier and faster in my experience
Taconic is dark, slow, lots of cops and doesn't have any shoulder, not too easy at night especially if it's snowing or something. I'd rather take the faster, safer route and relax with it

I have been going up 87 for years, In my opinion this is the best way to go because
I find that the cops leave there radar on so its very easy for me to pick them up. I have been using this route to Mount Snow for many years with much success. All the cops I have ever incountered just sit in the middle of those U-Turn Area's with there radar on. Always K or KA Band. Only twice have I ever encountered laser radar in years of driving this road.

2nd this - do the limit and stick to it...plus if you're caught, there's no shoulder
so you'll be pulled over onto the grass which is about a foot below pavement level.
