Default no actually I dont' get your point because the jobs are not handed out

with odds. They are given out to the people who can handle them..

A dealership is like any business to make money they have to make customers happy and do good work.

By assuming a dealer is a crap shoot one can only assume that you take your job and business that way or that anyone else does and that is just not the truth.

Default i know what you mean...

i've always demanded only certain tech to work on my car, and the dealership i go to is very quick to accommodate. i've been lucky from the start to have a very very competent tech and everytime i need work done, the dealership knows who will be working on the car. sometimes i need to leave the car extra day with them but that's the flexibility and understanding i have with the dealership.
before you drop the car off at the dealership, maybe ask around to see who the top tech is at that particular dealership and work w/ the dealership to have him/her work on the car.

Default unless the dealership is just swamped w/ work and need the car out of their shop...

then maybe you'll get someone who wasnt qualified working on your car. i might be wrong, but that's sometimes the impression i have from dealership.

Default Usually no, just because its going to cost them more and take more time later

If they just give the job to someone unqualified then its going to take longer and better chance of it coming back. So they would lose money on both ends.

If they give it to a low end tech who is just doing oil changes, he may only be getting paid 15 bucks an hour but a 4 hour job may take 8.. So they bill out 4 but have to pay this tech for 8 since most techs are still hourly.. A better tech may do the job in 3.. They still bill out 4 yeah they are paying him 25 an hour so it cost more to pay them.. But he can still do another 5 hours worth of work so they end up billing out more time. They stand to make alot more money giving the better ones the job no matter what.
