Default point transfer question NY to NJ...

While traveling to canada i got a ticket (speeding) on I-87 around elizabethtown. 84 in 65, that's 4 NY points. I live in NJ so I was wondering if they transfer all 4 points or less (I hope). If you have an answer to this please help me out here cause i don't feel like traveling 2 hr to make a court appearance... Thank you in advance.

Nick

Default from what I heard...you cannot get points for a violation thats out of state...

I dontknow how accurate this is...but thats what a couple of people have told me..they told me you only pay fines...

Default yes they do..

NJ belongs to a multi state points share group. NY points go on NJ records<ul><li><a href="http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/cit_violations/d_vp_pnf.html">points toward NJ</a></li></ul>

Default important distinction from that link you sent

"ensures that out -of -state violations become part of your NJ driving record. Two points are assessed for each moving violation."

so the answer is, no, not all 4 points get transferred. only 2.

Default Not true. Speeding ticket from NY transferred to NJ and that was 4 years ago.

On the plus side, I got it reduced to 2 points by simply writing a letter to the prosecutor. It was a 4 point ticket from somewhere about an hour north of Albany and I explained that I was a student (at the time) attending college almost 5 hours away. Pleaded guilty to 10mph over in the ticket and voila!
