Default food and nightlife suggestions

The best chinese food is found in Flushing Queens and Brooklyn's 8th Ave, not in Chinatown. For Dim Sum go to Linden Place, 3410 Linden Pl., Flushing, (718) 888-7705?. Be prepared to be the only non-asian person there (if you are not asian that is). Linden Place has their own parking lot and it is free (except for tip, valet).

Another excellent choice for Dim Sum is a new place between 8th and 9th Ave one 65th St. in Brooklyn. Parking is quite a bit more difficult to get to. Take the BQE (278) towards the Verrazano, exit at 63rd or 65th forgot the name, but there is only one exit in the 60's and it's on an overpass. Once again, if you are not asian, be prepared to be the only non-asian in the place.

For top notch japanese noodles, go to Mechanko Tei, 43-45 West 55th St. 212 247 1585. Order the Hakata Ramen or the Curry Mechanko.

Alternative new top notch japanese noodle place is on 4th Ave between 9th and 10th Street on the east side of the Ave. This new place is out of control packed for dinner every day of the week.

Korean BBQ, go to Dae Dong, 17 W 32nd St, New York, NY 10001, (212) 695-3873, order the home made beef dumpling soup appetizer, order the "bulgogi beef", the "kalbe beef" and the hwae dup bop sushi bowl. Chap chae if you want noodles, and of course, a bi bim bap if you are into the hot stone pot rice bowls.

Nightlife, go to Pacha, 618 W 46th St. between 11th Ave and the West Side Highway. Also, Lotus at 409 W 14th St. is a great club and you can go early and get decent Thai for dinner.

Default If leaving Manhattan for dinner, plan to sit in a ton of traffic

or be prepared to take an hour ride on the subway

Default If you like the MOMA smithsonian etc, must see attractions are

Metropolitan museum of art

Guggenheim museum

Museum of natural history

Frick Collection

For brand name shopping on a budget, check out Woodbury Common Mall in upstate NY. It is an outlet mall worth checking out... There should be tour buses leaving NYC early AM and coming back early evening.

Default I'm from São Paulo, so I'm used to that type of stuff.

Though I know that no matter what we'll look like tourists and those people will be more drawn to us...

Same thing down here if you ever come down to Brazil (São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro mainly).
