Update On Friend who broke her neck in accident.
10/18/05 - Four University of Rhode Island students were hospitalized Thursday at about 1:55 a.m. after the car they were in hit a utility pole off Route 1 in North Kingstown.
Sarah Kobliska, 20, of Barrington, R.I. was driving. Sophomore Ashleigh Kay, 19, of Framingham, Mass., sophomore Colette Schirmer, 19, of Scotch Plains, N.J., sophomore Courtney Logan, 19, of Braintree, Mass. and Katelyn Franza, 19, of Lynbrook, N.Y. were passengers in the car.
As of 5:30 p.m. Monday, Schirmer remained in serious condition at Rhode Island Hospital with a neck injury, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
State police said Logan was transferred to Rhode Island Hospital with internal injuries but was later released. Kobliska and Franza were treated and released for minor injuries at South County Hospital.
According to state police, the crash occurred near Walmsley Lane on Route 1. Wickford State Police Patrol Commander David Neill said they believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.
"The operator[Kobilska] we suspect was under the influence of alcohol," Neill said. "Supposedly they were coming back from a club in Providence."
Neill said Kobilska did provide written consent to a chemical test at South County Hospital, but the results of the test would not be available for a few weeks. Neill said any arrest would be made after the results are examined.

Hope they learned a lesson, underaged drinking and driving
glad they only hurt themselves, other than any innocent bystanders...
Harsh, abso****inglutely, but please, don't come for mercy on your friends if police state they believe alcohol was a a factor...
