I have a Toyota truck for a tow rig, and participate in a Toyota forum...there is so much conspiracy theory on that forum.

"The government is behind this."
"The media is behind this."

I'm not sure why the gov't would want to submarine a company that supports nearly 100,000 jobs (indirectly) in the US and furthermore, one for which a lot of US citizen probably hold shares.

Etc., etc. I seem to think this is definitely pointing to s software issue somewhere. The G Man is right, Toyota is trying to scapegoat this off onto whatever sub-supplier they can to save their reputation.

I will say, that when comparing my Tundra to my BMWs and Audi, that they are putting those things together as cheaply as they possibly can. My 02 Tundra suffers from under-sized brakes front and rear, body bolts and driveshaft couplings that have to be re-tightened every 10k or so.

One thing that Toyota CAN'T be blamed for is mental midgets without the common sense to throw a car into neutral.....
