Default 00 1.8T: First chip. 70k. GIAC, APR, APC? Which one?

Once the timing belt, water pump and snub mount are done, I'm thinking the wife's 2000 A4 1.8T needs a chip. What are people's impressions on an otherwide unmodded 1.8T? I don't think we'd eventually go for bigger turbos, fat exhausts or what have you. I just think the car needs just a tad more grunt.

GIAC, APR, APC or what?

GIAC is a good choice.

Default Wife's car ?, I'd go low with a Neuspeed

It is the smoothest chip I've driven.

Default IMHO GIAC is the best......

I saw APR, MTM, GIAC, and UPsolute go back to back on a dyno. GIAC out performed all of them, torque and HP.

However, APR was a close second. BTW I hear Achtuning is in-house installing APR now so that may sway your decision.....no down time.

Just my $.02

Except that I hear that GIAC comes down there from Vancouver every once in a while.

Default I've seen dynos and head to head 'runs' tween APR and GIAC cars. They are virtually identical.

APR is a tad smoother and GIAC 'feels' a tad more abrupt at onset. I'd go with whom ever has 'local' support.

Default What I seen was, APR was smoother and had more inital power, but GIAC

had alot more HP up top and ran alot more boost

Default I'm running APR, have been since Dec of 2000, 33k miles.

Absolutely NO complaints. ECMS on the 2000+ is very cool, very integrated, and allows for switching of programs using the cruise control.

And Achtuning is now your local APR dealer, for local access and excellent customer service.

(ben, josh, you can send that GC my way for the advertising plug...) :-)
