I see. Thanks. Has anyone at least won a pace ticket in real life?

Default I am sure someone has - that was the only form of evidence for speeding until radar units came into

existence just over 30 years ago. Given all the lawyers out there all along, it seems a certainty that more than a few figured out angles to use that got them off.

The trick would be to find olde fart legal eagles who remember the angles to pursue :}

Default I remember when...

in California, they weren't allowed to use radar on the freeways from a moving vehicle - they had to pace you...

Ahh, the good ol' days!

Is it just me or does it seem lame that the cops can speed to pace you?

And they get paid to do it too. On the flip side they have to be the first ones at an accident too.

Default It is lame....I was passed by a speedy cop one day..

in Sammamish. Jeep cop sitting on the shoulder and I saw him way back behind. I was driving at the speed limit all the way and since I had my V1 on I knew he was not scanning around. I was afraid of instant-on or pacing so I kept my speed at the limit. He immediately moved out of the shoulder and followed me. Well when the road widens to 2 lanes each side he immediately jumped out and speed past me at 15+ the limit. What upsets me is that many people have already fallen prey to speed traps in that same stretch of road!!!

I was also tailgated by unmarked cops in the same area. Driving at speed limit and suddenly saw a big sedan accelerating to my bumper. Fortunately I resisted the urge to "escape" and later the unmarked cop again passed me while speeding.

and I am still trying to figure out what the final cost (insurance hike...ticket cost) will be.

Default Interesting. So they're not just enforcing the law, they're trying to provoke people. Isn't that..

entrapment?

Default Some previous posts in this forum suggested the same thing.....

- tailgating to make you speed away
- driving 55 in the left lane to make you pass on the right
- revving at red-light stop to attract race
- etc.

all unmarked of course.
