Buddy got a DUI last night--anyone know or suggest a top-notch DUI attorney?
This obviously sucks as he's an otherwise stand up guy, doing his PhD at UW, but unfortunately everyone fvcks up once in a while. Suggestions appreciated, all.

Scott Wonder is awesome. He works in my building and has a reputation of being very very good. He's also a euro enthusiast, FWIW. (Drives a V70R wagon...I love his car)

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! That guy is a total FAIL... ripped me off 8 years ago
I had a bullsh*t racing ticket (seriously I'm not just saying that I can tell you the story sometime) that should have been EASILY dismissed. Instead, he milked me dry for about $5K and I ended up with a PLEA that I could have done on my own!!!
I've talked the case details over with several other attys and they all agree that I got ripped off (he basically intentionally prolonged the case to increase his hourly consumption and it got to the point where I ran out of money and he said "Oh well you better take the plea then" or pay another $$$$$$ and I can maybe get it thrown out.
And then to top it off... he took a 'settlement' from me meaning he took less then what I owed (by only a few hundred or so) to 'help me out'... then 6 months later sent me to collections for the $300 he discounted me!! REAL PIECE OF WORK!!
Seriously STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe that's why he only practices DUI now, couldn't cut it in the street racing world. But seriously, I'll keep this story in mind. Never heard anything bad about Scott 'til now.

Doug Cowan, John Fox, Francisco Duarte (Fox, Bowman, Duarte), George Bianchi
These guys are some of the local (Seattle area) heavyweights in DUI defense, and charge accordingly. It would be good for him to meet with/consult all of them to discuss his case. It's worth fighting hard, but it will be helpful to discuss the circumstances. The fight alone will likely be lesson enough to him to not do it again; if he has to actually have it on his record, the next 2 or 3 years will be a bitch but he'll get through it. Good luck to him.
