I'm about to start working at Fort Lewis outside of Tacoma and I'd really like to live in a cool part of Seattle rather than some suburb of Tacoma filled with Army guys. How crappy of a commute would I be dealing with? I'll be a platoon leader so I'm not the bosss, and I can't afford to **** off my boss too often by being late...

I totally understand what you mean about living near both the bases, Lewis and McChord.
HOWEVER, there are some very, very cool lofts in downtown Tacoma.
When I was a Pilot at McChord, downtown Tacoma was a crap hole, but now, it's really changed.
As far as your commute from Seattle to Lewis, don't do it!!!
You are Dan 4.2, well, I'm a Dan 4.2 owner too!
Are you new to the Puget Sound area?
Let me know what you decide.
Later,
Dan

Well I'd be leaving Seattle early in the morning probably no later than 5:00 am to be on post by 6:00, and I'd be driving home around the typical time-5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. I've checked the live traffic checker on the WSDOT website and it doesn't look too bad. But a random car wreck once a week would screw me if it slowed me down too much.
