Gas prices suck... was anyone just watching FOX news?
had an "expert" say the myth about gas from different places (Chevron vs Arco) being different was a false myth, and that the gas was all the same... his advice was to get the highest octane gas (which is true, burns cleaner) at the cheapest place (i.e. getting premium gas at Arco) is the best thing to do....
I'm sure this has been covered before, and lots of people have their gas preferences (I only fill up Chevron Premium).... but just wondering if there's any truth to what the dude says... anyone here work for an oil company? haha

That is not entirely true, according to my friend who owns and runs gas stations...mroe
The base petro is all the same needless to say, but the additives in them are not. However, one brand may be the same as the others, but not all of them are the same. For example, Exxon and Mobil are the same. Not sure about Chevron, Shell or BP tho. When a tanker goes to get filled up, it needs to clearly indicate which brand it wants, then the additives gets added as it gets filled.
Of course, I may be wrong on this, but this is what I was told.

that is my basic understanding too tifosi
base gase is the same,
that is diceminated to each of the companies distributors, where they add their own special cocktail of additives.
Those additives have a significant affect on your car when certain factors are in place.
High milage,
High Octane need,
High compression,
Age,
