Salem driver accused of going 141 mph

SALEM -- A Salem man, with a reported heavy lead foot, has been accused of going 141 miles an hour on Interstate 91 in Springfield, Vermont.
Vermont State trooper Chris McCrillis was conducting speed enforcement on the interstate Saturday morning. That's when he clocked a 2006 Hyundai Sonata traveling the high rate of speed.
McCrillis was able to get the driver, 46-year-old Martin Gibbons of Salem, Oregon, pulled over safely.
Gibbons says he had rented the car and was on his way to Barre, Vermont. But, McCrillis says Gibbons could not provide a reason for driving so fast.
Gibbons has been charged with careless and negligent driving.
He was then taken to the Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield because he did not have $1,500 bail.
