Who the hell builds a freeway (mind you, the busiest freeway in the state) that floods and has to be closed every other year?!? Gonna ruin my trip to Whistler now, thanks to those morons.

before you criticize WSDOT. The causes of that flooding are due to several factors not in the control of WSDOT, namely clear cutting up river that allows sediment to fill in the river bed nad increasing runoff, building up and filling in in the flood plain (which reduces the volume of the flood plain "bathtub" to absorb excessive waster runoff) in the Chehalis area, etc. Additionally, when I-5 was constructed in the '60s thru that area, I doubt there was any flooding over any of the highways at that time.
Don't worry, the freeway will be reopened by Saturday or Sunday (per the latest reports).
